New Hospitals in Mexico for US Baby Boomers

According to Mexican news sources, Carlos Slim, Mexican business magnate and second-richest man on the planet, is planning a system of high-quality hospitals in Mexico specifically to cater to U.S. baby boomers.

One of Slim’s companies, Ideal, has purchased a 49% stake in Grupo Star Medica, a Mexican national hospital chain. Plans are underway for new, high-quality medical centers in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, and Los Cabos on the Baja California peninsula to cater to U.S. baby boomers who are buying second homes in Mexico…or who simply want to come to Mexico for cheaper health care than they can find in the United States.

Slim isn’t the only Mexican businessman who sees an obvious opportunity in the failing U.S. health system. And plans are underway to get more U.S. private insurance companies to pay for medical treatment in Mexico.

New Ensenada - Rosarito Airport

The all new Mesa del Tigre International Airport is to begin construction next April according to a statement published by the Baja Development Board. It will have both a Domestic and an International Terminal and a very long 9,900 feet single runway and spare land for a second parallel one. It will be serving the cities of Ensenada and the Rosarito with an appeal to the southern area of Tijuana (Playas de Tijuana) which will not have to go across the mountains and Downtown Tijuana International Airport.

This is especially beneficial for US citizens residing in the Rosarito-Ensenada area. Mexico boosts the largest US citizen population outside of the USA with over 1 million Americans residing in Mexico.

The new airport give Baja a new US/Canada/Asian and South Pacific hub as Northern Baja has proved to be the best location for transpacific flights, and giving the huge Japanese Investment in the Ensenada Fishing Industry an Asian-Flights-Capable Cargo Gateway, as well as opening up Baja to the Chinese and Japanese tourism markets.

New Home Depot - Rosarito Beach

The Home Depot recently opened there large Rosarito store at the north end of the city in the Pabellon mall.

Office Depot is open as well and Wal-mart and Appleby are next.

For those that wish for a quick American snack there is always McDonalds and even a Subway.
